All Share the road Driver Workshops give heavy vehicle drivers an understanding of three insights to keep people on bikes safe. Our videos give some ideas of what drivers can expect to get out of a workshop. The key messages are:
Driving behind a cyclist? Leave plenty of space
Cyclists ride further out from the kerb and parked cars because it’s safer
When you pass a cyclist, leave a buffer of space between you
We run workshops with complimentary messages for people on bikes so that they stay safe when they are near heavy vehicles
we offer a range of workshop formats:
Driver – Online
Toolbox Workshop
Time: 15 Minutes
Capacity: 12 if in the same room, unlimited if logging in individually
Candidate: All drivers. Can be run during regular scheduled driver meetings where time is short. Can be run for small group of drivers.
Driver –
On-bike workshop
Time: 2 hours
Capacity: 12
Candidate: All drivers, these workshops are a great way to understand what cyclists experience when sharing the road with heavy vehicles. Run entirely on bike.
Driver –
Toolbox Workshop
Time: 0.5 hours
Capacity: 25
Candidate: All drivers. Can be run during regular scheduled driver meetings where time is short. Toolbox workshops for drivers are run in a yard or warehouse only, rather than on the road.
Driver –
Virtual Reality (VR) Workshop
Time: 15 minutes
Capacity: 1 driver at a time
Candidate: Typically a driver undergoing an induction or assessment process using one of the the Share the road VR Headsets.
